FSSAI flags unapproved health claims and labelling violations on cranberry supplement

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a show-cause notice regarding a cranberry extract supplement over unapproved disease-risk claims and misleading advertising.

The regulator identified claims like “Supports Urinary Tract Health” as Disease Risk Reduction (DRR) and health claims. Under the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018, reduction of disease risk claims require prior FSSAI approval. The "100% Natural" claim directly violates FSSAI's advisory dated 28 May 2025 prohibiting "100%" claims on food products.
