Maharashtra standardises PET-CT and CT/MRI contrast charges at government hospitals

Maharashtra government has standardised charges for PET-CT scans and CT/MRI contrast agents at government hospitals, particularly those operating under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, to address inconsistent pricing and improve affordability. The prescribed rates include ₹10,250 for a whole-body PET-CT scan, ₹420–830 for CT contrast and ₹950 for MRI contrast. Patients are classified into three categories: eligible beneficiaries receiving free services, paying patients and patients sponsored or referred by other hospitals. Payments must be made through hospital billing desks, not directly to private operators. Hospitals must display rates and payment procedures in Marathi and English, while PPP operators must follow the prescribed pricing and contractual arrangements.
