FSSAI proposes stricter thresholds to define high fat, sugar and salt foods in schools

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued draft amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Safe Food and Balanced Diets for Children in School) Regulations, 2020. The proposal introduces ICMR Dietary Guidelines 2024 thresholds for identifying foods high in added fat, added sugar and salt in school settings.
